CM Baghel asks NTPC management for job to people affected by its Lara Plant on priority basis

 

Raigarh:Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday instructed the management of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited and the Collector of Raigarh district to ensure job for the people affected by land acquisition for the NTPC Lara Plant project. The members of the affected families should be provided with jobs in the plant according to their eligibility and educational qualification. 22 more affected people are still waiting for jobs in the plant. 

Special initiative of Chief Minister BhupeshBaghel helped 49 land displaced people from 9 villages, affected by land acquisition for NTPC Lara Thermal Power Project, get permanent job in NTPC Lara Plant in Raigarh. Appointment letters were given during a programmeorganised on Monday and Chief Minister Baghel joined the programme through video conferencing from his official residence. 

Six affected people were already provided with job in the plant. Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, an examination was conducted again by releasing an advertisement for recruitment to the remaining posts, through which appointment letters were given to 49 people on Monday. In this way, a total of 55 people of affected families got jobs as per their eligibility.

NTPC Lara had advertised the recruitment of 79 posts of IIT Diploma, Lab Assistant and Assistant General. Out of these, 22 reserved posts are yet to be appointed. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has given instructions to take appropriate measures to provide appointment to the eligible land-displaced people according to their qualification on the remaining 22 posts. 

Alok Gupta, ED, NTPC Lara, assured the affected land-displaced and the people of Chhattisgarh that priority will be given to them in future recruitments as per the instructions of the Chief Minister.

During the programme, MLA Prakash Nayakurged the Chief Minister that the land displaced of NTPC Lara and the people of Chhattisgarh should be given jobs on priority basis. Collector Raigarh Bhim Singh informed in the program that NTPC Lara is a super critical technology based power plant, which has 2 units of 800 MW capacity. Chhattisgarh gets 50 percent of the power generation from this plant. He informed that 2000 acres of private land of 9 villages ArmudaBodajhariaChaporaDevalsurraJhilgitarKandagarh, Lara, Mahloiand Riyapali had been acquired for this plant. 2449 farmers have been affected by this. 

An amount of Rs 187 crore has been deposited as compensation for the land acquired by NTPC. He informed that at present 500 people from the affected villages and 550 people from other districts of Chhattisgarh are working in the plant. 

He informed that 1789 farmers affected by this project have given one-time rehabilitation amount. An amount of Rs 118 crore has been provided to the affected farmers so far, the eligibility of 688 land holders is to be tested by the district administration. The Collector also informed about the works done by NTPC under CSR head. He said that an amount of Rs 2.64 crore has been given by NTPC for the new building of Community Health Center, Pusaur. NTPC AGM (HR) Kanhaiya Das was also present on the occasion.
