Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday chaired the second meeting of Chhattisgarh Culture Council held at his residence office here. Discussion on the upcoming action plan of the council was held in the meeting. Rs 4.93 crore was sanctioned for Chhattisgarh Cultural Council for for 127 events to be organized by Sahitya Akademi, Kala Akademi, Adivasi evam Lok Kala Akademi, Chhattisgarh Film Development Corporation, Chhattisgarh Official Language Commission and Chhattisgarh Sindhi Academy.During the discussion in the meeting, chief minister Baghel said that programmes and workshops centered on the personality and work of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi should be organized in all the divisional headquarters of the state. Besides, programmes focussing on folk art and culture should not be limited to the state capital only and should be organized in all the divisional headquarters of the state. Such events should be decentralized for the promotion of folk culture. He directed to prepare a proposal to open a music and dance college in Raigarh under Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya Khairagarh.During the discussion over handicrafts, the Chief Minister said that daily use artistic items of iron and bell metal crafts should be prepared, which can be used in every household. The handicraft items will get a better market and this will also boost employment opportunities for local artisans. Members of the council gave important suggestions regarding the organization of the programmes. Chief Minister’s Advisor and member of Chhattisgarh Culture Council Vinod Verma, chief secretary Amitabh Jain, additional chief secretary Subrat Sahoo along with council members attended the meeting.
