Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh
Baghel on Thursday virtually attended the meeting chaired by Union Minister New
and Renewable Energy Rajkumar Singh from his residence office.
Chief minister had a
detailed discussion with the Union Minister regarding the implementation of
Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme in Chhattisgarh. Energy Ministers from
Bihar, Gujarat, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, and
Administrators from Daman and Diu also attended the meeting.
During the discussion, chief
minister Bhupesh Baghel gave in-principle consent to the scheme and supported
the demand of the states to extend the time limit for payment of electricity
subsidy. Besides the development of new power infrastructure in the state under
Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme, action will be taken to upgrade and strengthen
the existing infrastructure as well. Under this scheme, the installation of smart
meters for every consumer, except the agriculture consumers, will be ensured.
Central Government has set December 31, 2021, as the deadline for submission of detailed project reports under this scheme. The estimated cost of this scheme is
Rs 9600 crore, which is targeted to be completed by March 2025. On this
occasion, energy department special secretary Ankit Anand was also present at
the Chief Minister’s residence.
