Covid cases rising at an alarming rate in CG, former minister Amar Agrawal tests positive for Covid

Raipur:
Covid cases are rising at an alarming rate in Chhattisgarh. 106 new Covid cases
including 40 in Raigarh district have been reported in the state in the last 24
hours.

As
per data issued by health department late on Wednesday 23,767 samples were
tested across the state in which 106 people have tested positive for corona.
This includes 7 children as well. 17 new Covid cases have been reported in
Bilaspur, 13 in Janjgir-Champa, 12 in Raipur, 5 in Rajnandgaon, 4 in Surajpur,
3 each in Durg and Korba districts. The number of active patients in
Chhattisgarh has increased to 463, which is highest in the last four-five
months. In just seven days, active patients have increased by 150 to 463.

Former
minister Amar Agrawal has also been tested positive for Covid-19. He has urged
that those who have come in contact with him in the last two-three days should
get themselves examined so that timely treatment can be done. As a precaution,
Raipur and Raigarh district administrations have declared many areas as
containment zones. Some popular picnic spots have also been closed.

Chief
minister Bhupesh Baghel has directed the district collectors to adopt all
precautionary measures to prevent the spread of Omicron and Corona infection.
He has directed to increase the Covid testing in all the districts and ensure
all necessary preparedness in the hospitals to deal with any emergency
situation. He has asked all to abide by all the necessary Covid protocol.

In
view of the current situation, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain has called an
emergency meeting of all the divisional commissioners, district collectors, and
CMHOs today. According to sources, instructions including setting up of control
rooms in all districts and increasing the number of RTPCR tests to more than 11,000
can be issued in the meeting.
