Raipur Police’s campaign on Road Safety and Traffic Rules recorded by Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records

Over one lakh citizens of Raipur district pledged to comply with traffic rules and safety norms on January 1, 2022.

Raipur:Raipur Police’s week-long campaign on Road Safety and Traffic Awareness has been recorded in the Asia Book of Records and India Book of Records. Under the campaign, as many as 1,02,468 citizens of Raipur district pledged for road safety and compliance of traffic rules which was included in the record books

These citizens of Raipur took a pledge for road safety in the New Year by signing the road safety resolution letter on January 1, during this innovative campaign ‘Suno Raipur’ which was organised from December 26, 2021 to January 1, 2022. Worthwhile to mention, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel appreciated this innovative campaign run by Raipur Police.

In order to make people aware of road safety and traffic rules, Raipur Police with the help of active volunteers started this campaign. The differently abled children of DivyangMahavidyalaya ‘Mann’ also gave a very sensible and emotional video message to support the campaign launched by Raipur SSP Prashant Agrawal on December 26 at Magneto Mall here.

The SSP had appealed to the citizens of Raipur to follow the road safety rules while driving and not to put themselves and others at risk by reckless driving or bypassing basic safety rules. The SSP requested the people to think of their family and friends while attempting any kind of bike stunts or speed driving.

During the week long campaign, Raipur Police teams and 300 active volunteers sensitized people about traffic rules in various public places, market areas, main squares, schools, educational institutions and commercial areas. Pamphlets, placards, handouts, video screens with interesting and educational messages were also used. The social media platforms of Raipur Police were also extensively used to create awareness among the people during this awareness campaign.

It is worth noting that every year around 1.5 lakh people die in road accidents in India. About 450 people die every year in Raipur district alone. The main reasons behind these deaths are speeding, not wearing seat belt and not wearing helmet. Some people even drive under the influence of alcohol and put their lives and others’ lives at risk. Many people can be seen driving using cell phones. Accidental deaths can be reduced by following basic road safety rules.

The campaign was led by SSP Raipur PrashantAgrawal, ASP Traffic M R Mandavi and DSP Traffic Satish Thakur. The campaign was supported by Raipur Auto Dealers Association, Young Indians, Surakshit Bhava Foundation, Sikh Care India, Abha Foundation, AwaazFoundation, Sparsh Ek Prayas, Helping Hand Foundation, Kopal Vani, Mission SambhavVataker Manch and Saubhagya Foundation, Maruti Suzuki Driving School, PranjalSupported and supported by volunteers of many NGOs and associations like Seva Samiti.
