Rajim–a confluence of spirituality, religion and our glorious culture: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that Rajim, the famous pilgrimage center of Chhattisgarh, is not just a city but a confluence of spirituality, religion and our glorious culture. Considering the importance of Rajim, we have not only allotted 54 acres of land for the new fair site to give grandeur to Rajim Maghi Punni Mela here, but have also expanded the facilities including construction of a Dharamshala for the devotees coming to the fair. The fair site is being developed at a rapid pace. Today, Lakshman Jhula constructed at a cost of Rs 33.12 crore was inaugurated at Triveni Sangam, Rajim. 

Chief Minister Baghel was addressing the closing ceremony of Rajim Maghi Punni Mela today.

The famous Rajim Maghi Punni Mela organized at the confluence of three rivers in Rajim from 16 February to 01 March concluded with much fanfare in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel as chief guest. Chief Minister and other special guests present on the occasion offered prayers to the idol of Lord Rajiv Lochan and prayed for the happiness, safety and prosperity of the state. The programme was presided over by the Tourism, Home and Public Works Department Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu. Over 10 lakh devotees participated in the Rajim Maghi Punni Mela this year.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel further said that on the request of MLA Amitesh Shukla we immediately approved a ban on liquor for 15 days in Rajim and nearby areas. He said that Lord Ram spent most of his time in exile in Chhattisgarh. The area from Rajim to Shivrinarayan is called ‘Kamal Kshetra’. Regarding the Ram Van Gaman Path, he said that 9 important sites on this path are being developed as major tourist spots.  

The Chief Minister said that the state government is working for the beautification of Rajim. He said that we are bringing prosperity in the lives of farmers of Chhattisgarh with our policies and schemes. He said that the Prime Minister has also praised the Godhan Nyay Yojana. 

Baghel said that through the Rural Industries Park being developed in Gauthan, our farmers and rural brothers and sisters will now be called industrial workers. He said that the income of the poor would also increase with the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana started for the landless laborers. He congratulated the local administration and common citizens for a wonderful event.

On this occasion, Tourism and Home Minister Tamrajdhwaj Sahu said that every year the State Government makes efforts to make this event better. This year the people of the region have received the gift of Lakshman Jhula. Devotees will now have Lord Kuleshwarnath Darshan round the year. He said that this year about 3 thousand beneficiaries received benefits worth Rs worth Rs 98 crore through various schemes in the fair. 

Rajim MLA Amitesh Shukla said that there is a wave of happiness among the people of the area with the Bhoomipujan of Lakshman Jhula. He expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for the prohibition of liquor during the fair. Abhanpur MLA Dhanendra Sahu said that development of every section is taking place in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Collector Namrata Gandhi gave information about the organization of the fair and the arrangements made. She expressed her gratitude to all the sections for the successful organization of the fair. Chhattisgarh Rajya Gau Seva Ayog (Chhattisgarh State Cow Service Commission) Chairman Rajesri Mahant Shri Ramsunderdas Maharaj, Mahant Govardhan Sharan Maharaj, Sant Shri Umeshanand Maharaj, Sant Ravikar Saheb, Brahmakumari Pushpa Behen, Brahmakumari Hema Behen, Sant Vichar Saheb along with other saints were present on the occasion.

MLA Sangeeta Sinha, Bhilai MLA Devendra Yadav, senior officials, local public representatives, and a large number of citizens were present on the occasion.
